The Brookdale Club and Theatre

About

A Brief History of the Club

During the Second World War a group of Air Raid Wardens, who were responsible for the area known as the Brookdale Estate, had a desire to form a club to improve the quality of the lives of local residents.

The Inaugural meeting to found the club was held on Wednesday, the 12th May 1943, at the Ladybrook Hotel”

In 1944 a Private Company, limited by guarantee, was formed. It was important to the founders that there was a Club House so they leased 9 acres of grazing land from the local Council and the building, first opened in 1952, has been extended many times.

From the first social event in 1943 to the present day, The Brookdale Club has provided its members with a warm and friendly environment and offered activities which have evolved over the years. The over-riding ethos remains the same: to foster a community spirit for the benefit of residents of Bramhall and the District. This aim is achieved by offering social, educational and recreational activities to every club member.

Club Activities

Activities within the Club are offered by groups known as Sections. For example:- Andante are Club members who like to sing for pleasure and so are now a choir, while Art is for members who wish to paint, draw and develop their artistic flair.

See our sections page for a full list of all the clubs activities, or use one of the links below to take you to a section of interest.

Brookdale’s warm and friendly atmosphere is nowhere more apparent than in the club lounge bar where you will be welcomed to enjoy a drink in convivial and comfortable surroundings.   You can always be sure of meeting familiar faces for a pleasant chat whilst enjoying the benefits of club prices at the bar.
